1. Kenyatta National Referral Hospital
KNH is Kenya’s biggest referral hospital, servicing over 2500 outpatients daily and 2,093 inpatients daily.
KNH was established in 1987 and provides specialized care for patients within and outside the country.
Kenyatta National Hospital has a bed capacity of 2400 beds. It has 50 wards, 24 outpatient clinics, 26 theatres, 82 ICU beds, and an accident and emergency department.

2. Mathari National Teaching and Referral Hospital
Methari National Teaching and Referral Hospital (MNTRH) is Kenya’s premier specialized national teaching and referral hospital for mental health patients.
This hospital was established in 1924 and is the only public institution offering the following services
- Specialized psychiatric services
- Forensic services
- Rehabilitation services
- Training in psychiatry for doctors and other health care workers.
- Comprehensive care clinic for HIV patients

3. The National Spinal Injury Referral Hospital
This facility was established in 1944 to care for World War II soldiers with spinal cord injuries.
The National Spine Injury was known as Amani Chesire Home when it was founded.
The primary mandate of the National Spine Injury Referral Hospital is to provide care to patients with spine disorders.
The services provided by this facility include:

4. Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital
The MTRH was established in 1998. The hospital is a multi-specialty National Teaching and Referral Hospital.
