Pharmacy and Poisons Board Issues Public Warning Against Use of “Yoni Pearls”

The Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) has issued a warning about the use of “yoni pearls,” also known as vaginal detox pearls, herbal tampons, cleansing pearls, or vaginal pearls.

The PPB is concerned because these “yoni pearls” are not officially approved to be used in Kenya. This means they haven’t gone through the proper checks that are required by the Pharmacy and Poison Act (CAP 244).

As a result, their safety and effectiveness cannot be guaranteed, and they might pose risks to people’s health.

In light of these uncertainties, the PPB is taking a strong stance against the distribution, sale, supply, and use of “yoni pearls” as well as any other unregistered products making similar claims.

The PPB is asking the public, including healthcare professionals, to report any products that seem suspicious or haven’t been approved.

As the regulatory authority, the Pharmacy and Poisons Board continues to work diligently to ensure the safety and well-being of all citizens.
